California Festival Guide For 2017

CA Events For Everyone

California is known for its festivals. We grow so much amazing produce in California, we just have to show it off. Our wine is exceptional, our breweries growing, and the Celebrity status of Los Angeles is second to none. What better place to gather a community together than the cities that make up this great state? I have come up with a must-see guide of festivals for the 2017 year.

You will need a few things before we get started.

First, you will need the zeal for adventure. You may also need a car to get you to these spectacular places. With your car,  you will need the cheap insurance California offers. You might even ride a motorcycle to some of these events, so you might as well be covered for that too. It is probably a good idea to bring some cash, as it’s the only way to survive CA (to have money!). And last but not least, bring an empty stomach. You will be filling it for days at the festivals I have chosen.

Ok, let’s get started.,

-Fresno Tattoo Convention– March 25th and 26th. This Fresno tattoo expo takes place at the Fresno fairgrounds and brings together some of the best tattoo artists in the world.

-USF Human Rights Film Festival-March 23rd, 24th, and 25th at the University of San Francisco. This amazing festival showcases Indie Directors debuting their films. This is where it all begins

Kern County Scottish Games– March 25th in Bakersfield. This fun cultural event takes place at the Kern County Fairgrounds. You can bet there will be bagpipes.  You can visit a tea room and there will also be Scotch tasting. Sounds pretty good to me!

-Lodi Wine and Food Festival– April 1st. What’s better than wine and food in a beautiful spring setting? Taste wine from over 40 wineries. Located in the Ole Mettler Grape Pavilion, this festival shares the culture of the Central Valley. Make sure you have a designated driver or else you might get stuck needing the cheap SR22 insurance California requires. Take a load off instead and enjoy drinking the day away!

Fallbrook Avocado Festival– April 23rd. Located in the desert town of Fallbrook, this festival brings the best Avocado growers from California together. Can you say guacamole?

-BBQ Festival San Diego– Date TBD- This is more of a street fair and competition than anything else. Watch people barbecue away while you taste test. The festival starts in Makers Quarter. Come prepared to eat!! You may want to revamp your cheap life insurance before you make the trip. The greatness of this BBQ fest may just kill you!

-Santa Clarita Barbecue and Beer Festival– 5th through the 7th. BBQ and beer you ask? Santa Clarita doesn’t disappoint. Taste the best local BBQ at Central Park in Santa Clarita. Corn on the Cob, lots of beer, and even music to keep you going through the day. It was such a hit the first year that they are repeating themselves for the 2nd annual BBQ and Beer Fest.

– Mariposa Butterfly Festival– 5th through the 7th. Experience the wonder of butterflies. It is a great time for the whole family. Located in downtown Mariposa, come experience art and entertainment as well.

Joshua Tree Music Festival– 18th through the 21st. Have fun listening to bands out in the desert. Very family friendly, this music festival is an incredible experience. Zen out to some really smooth tunes while drinking cactus wine.

-Sunset Film Festival– 20th and 21st. Located in Santa Monica, CA, this film festival is pretty large and usually very good. This is a great way to see independent filmmakers leaving their mark.  This event takes place at the Promenade Playhouse.

-Bottle Rock Napa- 26th through the 28th. Music, food, wine and brew. Not only do you get to visit Napa, the wine capitol, but you get three days of great bands. This is one of the largest festivals in Northern California. Maroon 5, Tom Petty, and Foo Fighters are a few of the great bands playing this year. I am guessing Bottle Rock will need some great California liability insurance to cover the heavy hitting music.

Valhalla Renaissance Faire- June 3rd and 4th and June 10th and 11th- South Lake Tahoe. Get your fill of history at this amazing fair.  Jousting, costumes, and games will fill up your day while the beauty of Lake Tahoe surrounds you.  You can stay for a vacation. Rentals in Tahoe are pretty reasonable. There are many people who rent homes here just for certain parts of the year. Get the cheap renters insurance California requires beforehand. If you are just looking for a good hotel, book now because South Lake Tahoe gets incredibly busy in the summer months.

-Sacramento Taco Festival– June 3rd- If you didn’t know, Sacramento is obsessed with tacos. Come see just how far their obsession leads at this yummy and fun festival. Support the heritage of the Latino community in California.

-Monterey Wine Festival– June 9th through 11th- You don’t need an excuse to visit Monterey. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the state. However, wine makes it a little harder to say no.

Long Beach Sea Festival– Located at Belmont Pier, this festival celebrates the greatness of the sea. Sandcastle competitions, motorboat races and of course tons of food. Prepare yourself for an amazing time. Long Beach is a community that knows how to have fun!

Paso Robles Lavender Festival– July 8th. In the beautiful setting of the Central Coast, Paso Robles celebrates one of its natural wonders: Lavender. Come smell the aroma in the downtown area. There will be free samples as well! Come buy soaps, incense, and essential oils while enjoying a peaceful summer afternoon.

-Comic Con International– July 20th through the 23rd. San Diego is proud to host this large and fantastic event every year. This arts convention hosts comic book characters, previews for upcoming shows and films, and special guest appearances from your favorite film and television stars. Most attendees dress up so it can get pretty wild! Readers, film buffs, and comic nerds all gather together to geek out.

These are just a few of the awesome festivals around California.

March through July are pretty busy months for fairs and outdoor activities in California.

Blossoming flowers and strong, malty beer sound like a pretty good combination when looking for a great time.

You might have to make it a family affair.

I hope you can mark at least some of these down on your calendar.

I know I am.
